Dr. Jasmine Weiss is a pediatrician, physician-researcher, entrepreneur, and author. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UNC School of Medicine, where she takes care of pediatric patients and does research related to increasing representation in the physician workforce. Dr. Weiss grew up in Charlotte, NC, and became interested in becoming a physician at a very early age.
She attended West Charlotte High School, a predominantly Black high school, and graduated as valedictorian. Dr. Weiss earned her undergraduate degree from Florida A&M University, attended Duke University School of Medicine for medical school, and completed her pediatric residency at Emory School of Medicine, where she served as chief resident for the 2018-2019 academic year.
As a Black woman and pediatrician, Dr. Weiss’s passion for diversifying the healthcare workforce is grounded in her personal life experiences, research interests, and leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programming throughout her medical training. She is the founder of iDream Enterprise, LLC, and the B-MED platform. Dr. Weiss’s children’s book, “What Will Kami E. Bee?”, encourages early literacy and career exploration for Black and Brown children of all ages. Her mission is to create a community for those on the medical journey while inspiring others to enter the field of medicine.
