About B-MED an initiative of iDream

Black Med Connect is an initiative of iDream Enterprise, LLC, founded in 2021 by Dr. Jasmine Weiss. Through our iDream2be initiative, we connect with seek to inspire Black students in high school and college to pursue impactful health careers through our virtual health career bootcamps.

Through our iDream2read initiatives, we encourage early literacy and career exploration through our title “What Will Kami E. Bee?” written by our founder, Dr. Jasmine Weiss. With each of these initiative our goal is to empower Black and Brown individuals to dream without limits at each stage of the journey!

Dr. Jasmine Weiss is a pediatrician, physician-researcher, entrepreneur, and author. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at UNC School of Medicine, where she takes care of pediatric patients and does research related to increasing representation in the physician workforce. Dr. Weiss grew up in Charlotte, NC, and became interested in becoming a physician at a very early age.

 

She attended West Charlotte High School, a predominantly Black high school, and graduated as valedictorian. Dr. Weiss earned her undergraduate degree from Florida A&M University, attended Duke University School of Medicine for medical school, and completed her pediatric residency at Emory School of Medicine, where she served as chief resident for the 2018-2019 academic year. She received her Master’s in Health Science from Yale School of Medicine as a fellow in the National Clinician Scholar Program

As a Black woman and pediatrician, Dr. Weiss’s passion for diversifying the healthcare workforce is grounded in her personal life experiences, research interests, and leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programming throughout her medical training. She is the founder of iDream Enterprise, LLC, and the B-MED platform. Dr. Weiss’s children’s book, “What Will Kami E. Bee?”, encourages early literacy and career exploration for Black and Brown children of all ages. Her mission is to create a community for those on the medical journey while inspiring others to enter the field of medicine.
